An Email Marketer's Dream

Once upon a time, an email marketer, who had worked very hard all day, went to bed and he was so tired that he immediately fell into a deep sleep.

As sleep took him over, he was transported into dream land where he had a wonderful dream.

In his dream, he sent out an absolutely perfect marketing email. It was so well-written that
it actually glowed.

He programmed this perfect email into his perfect autoresponder and was notified that there was no wait time at all.

The message was sent out immediately. There was a 100% delivery rate! He was ecstatic. It
just kept getting better.

He went to his tracking pages and found that every single email that he had sent had been opened.

Not only had they been opened....the sales link in every email had been clicked on. He couldn't believe his eyes! A sale had been made to every recipient of his perfect email. SNAP!

Its too bad but that really was just a very nice dream. It isn't ever going to happen like that out
here in the real world of email marketing. There are, however, things that can be done to make it come partially true.

Remember that this guys dream started with a perfect email marketing message.

The better and more concise a marketing email message is, the better the link clicks will be.
The more times the links are clicked the more sales there will be.

Our imaginary dreamer did two important things right. He wrote a good marketing email and then he tracked his results.

Both of these things can really help to make any email marketers dreams come true but don't expect that 100% sales rate...that is just a dream.

Email Marketers Use Their Lists To Build Lists

Have you ever noticed that people love to share information with others? Knowing something that somebody else needs to know makes a person feel better about themselves.

It gives them self-confidence. They think it makes the person that they share information with
think that they are smart and in the know.

Listen to any conversation between neighbors and you will hear them exchanging information about who is the best plumber in town or where the best beauty shop or barber shop is located.

Its human nature and a human trait that savvy email marketers can take full advantage of.

Entice, encourage, and persuade the members of your opt-in list to share your marketing emails or your newsletters with their friends, families and co-workers. There are some fairly simple ways to do this.

1.In your newsletter include a coupon for dollars off on an upcoming product and tell your
list that they you will honour the coupon when it is presented by them, as well as, by anybody that they share it with.

2.Include a free gift that the members of your list can share with their friends, families and
co-workers. Be certain that the gift can only be downloaded from your website.

3.Send your list a quiz that is in some way related to the topic they are most interested in. Encourage them to share the quiz with others and post the answers to the quiz on your website.

Each time someone visits your website you have the opportunity to encourage them to opt-in to
your list.

Each time one person opts into your list, you then have an opportunity to get everyone that
they know to opt into your list if you can encourage them to share information...and they love to
share information.

Email Marketers and Joint Venture Give Aways

Do you know what a joint venture give-a-way is? It is when a group of marketers get together and offer a variety of free gifts to their lists. The offers are usually for very different kinds
of things.

For example: there may be an offer for a free ebook on gardening, one for dog care and one for effective email marketing all in the same package, as well as, many other things.

The theory behind this kind of joint venture give-a-way is that people who belong to one mailing
list may well be interested in products or services that are completely unrelated to the topic
of the list that they subscribe to.

People who are interested and invested in email marketing also have kids, pets, hobbies, etc.
People are not just one dimensional and savvy marketers have discovered that all members
of a joint venture give-a-way stand an equal opportunity to increase their opt-in lists.

These joint venture give-a-ways most often happen between mid October and mid December but they happen at other times of the year, as well.

To find joint venture give-a-ways that you might profit from, use your favorite search engine to
search for them. You will find at least a few that you may want to participate in.

You will need to have a product that you can give away for free and it needs to be downloadable
from your website. In order to download the free gift, the surfer will need to provide his name and email address to you.

Every partner in a joint venture give-a-way sends out the same package offer of the many and
varied products in the give-a-way to their own lists so each member has a shot at gaining members of others lists to join their own lists. Its a great list building tactic that is often overlooked.

Effective Email Marketing

There is a lot of email marketing done everyday but not a lot of it is effective email marketing.
Anybody who can manage to build a list...or buy a list can send marketing emails.

Just because marketing emails are sent doesnt mean that the email marketer is going to actually make any sales.

There are those naive souls who believe that they can buy a list for just a few dollars, get a free
autoresponder and, presto, be in business as an email marketer. If only it were that simple!

First...effective email marketing lists are built...not bought. It takes time, effort, energy and
know-how to build one. Effective lists arent for sale at any price.

Opt-in lists that are actually made up of the names and email addresses of those people who are
likely to buy whatever it is that you are selling are built using proven list building techniques.

None of these techniques are easy or fast but all of them serve to build effective email marketing
opt-in lists.

Second...Free autoresponders will not be helpful. The free autoresponder services will usually only allow you one autoresponder, they usually do not include a personalization feature
and neither do they include tracking features.

Another feature that the free versions of autoresponders do not provide is the ability to send
marketing emails in both plain text formats as well as in HTML formats.

All of these features are needed...they are even vital to email marketers.

Third....just writing effective marketing emails is a skill that requires much practice.

Many brand new email marketers make huge mistakes when sending out their marketing emails and until they take the time to learn the form of an effective marketing email, they aren't going to be sending effective marketing emails and they aren't going to be making many sales.

Teleseminar for Email Marketer

Teleseminars are big business on the Internet. There are hundreds of teleseminars held everyday on every topic that one can imagine.

Attendance at a teleseminar can be anywhere from a few dollars to hundreds of dollars depending upon the topic and the speakers.

Some think that a teleseminar is difficult to pull off and a very expensive proposition to boot.
Neither of those assumptions are accurate.

Actually a teleseminar is one of the cheapest of products that can be produced and sold on the
internet and all that is really required is a bridge line, a subject and one or more speakers
who are well versed on the topic to be discussed.

If you want a recording of the teleseminar that costs extra and if you want a transcript of the
call, that is an extra cost as well.

But both a recording and a transcript can become products that can be sold.

Marketing a teleseminar to an email marketing opt-in list takes some planning.

The first thing is, you dont want to blind side your recipients by announcing a teleseminar that will take place the same day that they first hear about it from you.

You need to prepare your opt-in list for the upcoming event and give them ample notice of the
date, the time, the topic and who the speakers will be. Three or even four prior notice emails are
not too many.

People will need time to free up their time in order to attend. They will need more than one
opportunity to pre-register for the event.

The one other thing that is needed for a teleseminar is a good and detailed outline of the topic to
be discussed and the order in which points will be discussed.

Copies of this outline need to be provided to all speakers, hosts, and narrators of the teleseminar
well in advance of the event.

Different Strokes for Different Folks in Email Marketing

Different Strokes was a television program that aired in the late 1970s and early 1980s that starred Gary Coleman, Todd Bridges, Dana Plato, and Conrad Bain.
The saying, different strokes for different folks was a popular response in those years, as well, for any situation that called attention to something out of what was considered the norm.
Different strokes for different folks is also a premise that can be applied to the fine art of email marketing, too.

For example, lets say that your product is one that would be used by people who are looking for a way to work from their homes.
You mailing list might have young mothers who find it difficult to leave their small children and work outside their homes. Your list might also contain names of retired individuals who are looking for a way to supplement their retirement incomes.
Your list might also contain the names of handicapped people, as well as, middle aged men who have been the victims of downsizing.
If you send identical marketing emails to every segment of your opt-in list, it is going to have to be pretty generic, to say the least.

Each of these very distinct groups of people may well be interested in your product but each group will have a different reason for being interested in it.
Break your mailing list down into groups of people who would buy your product for the same reason. Categorize! You can do this very easily by simply asking your potential customers about themselves.

Without asking for specific information, in your next email communication with your list, include a questionnaire that is designed to answer questions that will give you enough information to break your list into groups based on age or other criteria.
Different strokes for different folks...send age and situation appropriate emails to each different group.

Can Spam and You

SPAM got to be such a major problem for so many people in this country that Congress actually had to do something about it.
There was a lot of discussion (as well as just cussin) and email marketers were really afraid of what would happen to their businesses when this act was passed in 2003.

For More Information Visit: CAN SPAM compliance and SPAM ACT

There was, however, some lead time and email marketers set up opt-in lists to use rather than just sending out bulk unsolicited emails. It turned out that the CAN SPAM act was actually a blessing to legitimate email marketers.
The ones that got hurt were the unscrupulous ones who sent out that awful porn and sexually explicit type emails to unsuspecting recipients when the act became the law of the land in January of 2004.
Before CAN SPAM, most people would find hundreds of emails in the inboxes each and every day. The ones from their friends and families were buried somewhere in the pile of unsolicited bulk emails.
In that pile of emails were also legitimate email marketers offer or information all lumped together in one huge stack and people were far less than happy with the situation.
The law that made email marketers create opt-in lists has actually turned out to be a very good thing. The emails that are sent are sent only to those who want to get them and are most likely to act on the messages included in them.
Of course, everybody still gets at least some SPAM everyday or almost everyday. It is near impossible to stop all of them. The SPAMMERS simply change email addresses and continue to send SPAM but the problem is slowly coming under control which is a real boon to all email recipients as well as to legitimate email marketers.
The penalties provided in the law are stiff and are a great deterrent to those who would like to send SPAM.
